POLIACHENKO Yurii Volodymyrovych – the Head of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Department of O.O. Bohomolets National Medical University, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, director of the SI “The National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, NAMS of Ukraine”
Poliachenko Yurii Volodymyrovych (born in 1963) in 1986 graduated with honours from O.O. Bohomolets Kyiv Medical Institute. From 1986 to 1989, he worked at the Ukrainian Research and Development Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics as a junior scientific fellow, since 1991 – as a regular scientific fellow, from 1991 to 1994 – as a senior scientific fellow.
From 1994 to 1995, he held the position of Deputy Chief Physician in charge of medical statistics at “Kyivmiskbud” urban development corporation.
In 1995, he was sent to the Republic of Cuba, being appointed to head a therapeutic and rehabilitation centre, and has been working there till 1998.
In 1998, he became the Chief Physician of the “Medbud” scientific and practical medical association.
During 1999 – 2001, he was a Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine.

From December 2003 till August 2005, he worked as the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

March 2007 – January 2013: Director of the SI “O.O. Shalimov Surgery and Transplantology Institute”.

2019 – 2021: interim Director of the SI “The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, NAMS of Ukraine”.
March 2021 – to the present: Director of the State Institution” The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”.
In 1996, he represented and defended his PhD (Med) research: “Experimental-Clinical Substantiation of the Expediency of Administering Decamethoxine in Post-traumatic Osteomyelitis Complex Treatment”.
In 2002, he represented and defended his doctoral dissertation: “Organisational, Tactical, and Methodological Issues of Fracture Treatment in Patients with Concomitant Traumas”.
In 2003, he obtained the rank of Associate Professor.
In 2004, he achieved the rank of Professor.
In 1997, he got the title of Honoured Doctor of Ukraine.
In 2023, he graduated from P.L Shupik National University of Health with a Master’s degree in “Public Management and Administration”.
