Thus began the path of creativity, science under the guidance of an outstanding talented surgeon Prof. Razumovsky VI. However, the creative path was interrupted by the beginning of the First World War.
OG Yeletsky was called up for active military service and was appointed surgeon of the main dressing detachment of the division. From the first years of the First World War, Alexander Grigoryevich provides assistance to wounded soldiers and officers, creatively accumulates clinical experience. In 1918, Alexander Grigoryevich returned to Saratov University to his former job at the department. The experience of the war gave rise to independent practical medical work. In 1919. he organizes an orthopedic department in the city of Saratov, a sanatorium for patients with osteoarticular tuberculosis, where he widely develops surgical treatments. In 1920 Yeletsky OG appointed vice-rector of the department. Having good theoretical training and extensive experience of the war years, Yeletsky OG in 1924 he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Resection of the posterior roots of the spinal cord as a means of treating spastic paralysis" and in January 1925. elected professor and then head of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy of Saratov University. The combination of pedagogical and clinical work, filigree surgical technique and deep knowledge of anatomy and topographic anatomy, the need to find something new allowed Alexander Grigoryevich to creatively develop new directions in the surgery of the apparatus of support and movement. He pays special attention to reconstructive operations. He was the first in the Soviet Union to perform arthroplasty of the hip and knee joints in patients with tuberculous joint damage, and at the Congress of Surgeons in Leningrad (1928) he made a report on arthroplasty. In 1932. Professor Yeletsky OG are invited to the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the Kyiv Medical Institute named after Academician OO Worshipers. His clinic was based on the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology. This is the period of creative flourishing of Professor Yeletsky. He organizes a school of young scientists, from which came professors, doctors of medicine. Sciences Ozerov AH, Knish IG, Panchenko MK, Talko IG, Shcherban OM and other.
His creative work was interrupted by the Great Patriotic War and Oleksandr Hryhorovych volunteered for the Army. He works as a hospital consultant, provides highly qualified assistance to veterans, teaches young surgeons the modern requirements of military field surgery, and operates extensively.
After the liberation of Kyiv in 1943. he returns to the department and continues his great creative, practical and pedagogical work. Takes an active part in scientific congresses, conferences. His reports always contained new directions, methods, creative developments. He together with Assoc. Prof. Montblanov VV substantiated that it is erroneous to perform large resections of the eburnified ends of the false joints because they grow well after the opening of the bone marrow canal and stable osteosynthesis.
The introduction into clinical practice of this reasonable position has allowed not only to successfully treat false joints, but also to prevent disability, significant shortening of the limb, which occurred after large resections of the erupted ends of the false joints. The problems of restoration of large joints developed by Oleksandr Hryhorovych and his students were the basis for the introduction of reconstructive surgery in clinical practice, which allowed not only to reduce the degree of disability, but also to restore patients both support and dynamic function of the affected joints.
The experience of the Patriotic War became the basis for the active treatment of purulent lesions of the musculoskeletal system, namely gunshot osteomyelitis.
OG Yeletsky pays a lot of attention to the treatment of patients with purulent diseases of the joints, bone fusion and treatment not only of defective joints, but also to clarify the causes of delayed fusion, and accordingly the justification of pathogenetic treatment.
Alexander Grigoryevich also developed one of the difficult problems of traumatology - the treatment of obsolete and congenital dislocations of the thigh and shoulder in adults.
Prof. Yeletsky OG took an active part in the preparation of the Great Medical Encyclopedia, he wrote the section "Dislocations".
Professor OG Eletsky has published more than 60 scientific papers, three monographs. His scientists defended 5 doctoral and 19 candidate dissertations.
Having transferred the department to his student prof. Ozerov AH, Yeletsky OG conducted consulting work, summarized the enormous clinical experience to the last days of his life. Yeletsky OG died December 2, 1969
The creative personality of Oleksandr Hryhorovych, scientist, surgeon-innovator, clinician remains in the memory of his students, who continue to develop the scientific direction of prof. Yeletskoho OG
School of Professor Yeletsky OG continues to remain at the forefront of domestic science.
